Please help me translate these sentences into French. Please no goggle translate. Thanks

I like most types of music. I like acoustic music, blues music, country music, dance music, electronic music and pop music. I hate classical music and jazz music but I usually just listen to whatever is on the radio.

I have lots of favorite singers and lots of favourite groups. I really like the group Coldplay and the group Secondhand Serenade. Their music is pop/rock and it is really good. I love the singer Justin Timberlake, last year I went to his concert and it was great.

No I don’t play any musical instruments now. I don’t really have time because I have so much study. In primary school I used to play the violin and the cello but I didn’t like them very much so I quit. In year 8 I started playing the saxophone but I don’t play anymore. I would like to learn how to play the piano.

Yes I love listening to the radio because they play the most current songs which are really good. I also like the radio because the presenters are really funny.

This is the translation which you need – I hope you’ll see the differences :

j’aime presque tous les styles de musique – J’aime la musique acoustique, le blues, la country, la dance, la musique électronique et la pop’music – Je déteste le classique et le jazz, mais tout ce qui passe à la radio m’intéresse et j’écoute.

I also like the radio because the presenters are really funny.

oui j’aime écouter la radio, parce qu’on y entend les chansons les plus récentes qui sont vraiment bonnes- et si j’aime aussi la radio, c’est aussi parceque les présentateurs y sont tellement marrants .

string instrument tuner?

Monday, November 2nd, 2009

i used to be an enthusiastic cello player , but i haven’t picked up my cello for over a year now.
its not because i don’t like playing it, its because i really cant tune it.
i really want to start playing again, but i need help tuning.

if anyone has used on of those little electronic tuner things (like this
http://www.interstatemusic.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10001&storeId=10051&langId=-1&productId=106035#)
for a cello, viola, violin or double bass

please tell me, is it worth getting one?
do they actually work?

thanks
:)

Yes it’s worth it, but so is a tuning fork and understanding how to tune an instrument to itself.

… That would seem to be especially useful to an instrumentalist that plays a fretless string instrument like the ‘cello.

Okay, that’s basically everything UF knows lol. Oh, and if it matters my sister attended UF (she’s ten years older than me) and she is now a doctor. I said in my application essay that I’m striving to become a doctor as well.

why just go to UF? It seems like you have a chance at going to an Ivy League or to a better university like Emory University that will have smaller classes and more resources for students.

Are there any Christian Bible centerd colleges/ universities in the north eastern part of America?

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

I’m looking for a good christian college to go to. I want to learn more about music and get classical vocal training. I sing but sometimes I just wish I was of a more classical background. I work with what I have and the genre I put my self in, I don’t even think it exist; but I call it a mix of Blues, jazz, folk, indie(not crappy indie), acoustic worship, and gospel. I love to sing and write, but I would love to go into the producing part of music before I would get into singing. I love blues, jazz, acoustic, folk, reaggea and the indie styles. I’m also into spoken word and hip hop/ "rapping" but I would rather choose to call it spoken work/ beautifully flowing poetry with somewhat of an edge or style. I have always been into techno/ electronica and I would love to blend an acoustic style with electronic, almost industrial sounds. I love anykind of instrument, from a acoustic guitar to a violin, kazoo, dobro, jembe, cello, congas, piano anything that can make sounds basically. But I want to go to college and grow and make music. That’s ultimate happiness for me, music, education, and food. Haha, I don’t kno why I posted all of this but I want to fall deeper into music. I have so many ideas, and I want to share them so I could be a history maker haha, where can I find a good christian college for what I want to do, in the north eastern part of the usa? Even if its not christian, whjats a good school for music in the north east usa? Please and thank you! Thanks for taking the time to read this :)

If you’re looking specifically in New England, and not say, Ohio or Delaware or that part, you’ll find more Catholic colleges. The best you can do (and I assume you’re looking for a Protestant college, since you didn’t specify) is look for colleges with religious affiliations, like Baptist or Methodist. I recommend Peterson’s Four-Year College book–you can search by state and check to see religious affiliations, and you can also find which majors those schools offer.

Which is better, a tuning fork or an automatic tuner?

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

I have been used to tuning my violin with a tuning fork. I just got an automatic tuner that came with an electronic metronome. I noticed that both of my tuning forks (they are different sizes but have the same pitch) register consistently as "442 Hz" on the tuner.

Are tuning forks more accurate? If so, I could reset the tuner in a different mode so that "442" becomes the new "440." It’s not a big deal, but if you can tell the difference between the two if you play them one after another alternately.

Yes, it isn’t a big deal. 2Hz isn’t huge, but it can be irritating to someone with perfect pitch.
Naturally, the electric tuner should be more accurate, however there are different countries which tune to different frequencies. Most European countries tune to 441Hz, so i wouldn’t worry too much

Can u recommend some musics that are edited from classical music, i mean the melody is almost the same?

Monday, October 26th, 2009

like "A Little Distraction" from "Bach Minuet in G Minor"
"life is so cool" from "Pachelbel cannon in D major"

Those musics I search are not ONLY different in the form of performing, like techno, vocalise, a cappella or something else. The difference in the form of playing is not the point. u can have violin version, piano version or some inst. mix version, u can add electronic part BUT this is NOT i want, you konw only cannon in D has more than 1,000 versions, so i dont want this, that is only crossover in instruments.

So the music you recommend maybe have a little recomposed and have lyrics maybe, better is a variation just like what Maksim does or maybe just like "A Little Distraction", the song i mentioned earlier.

Thanks very much for ur attention and the nice answers u may give to me!!
sincerely thanks to you all answerers, you do help me a lot. Classical music is always my first choice, looking for this kind of music is just for a fun of collecting.
btw, I made mistakes in spelling "canon", and for twice!! but seems you all have forgiven me.lol

Although my personal opinion of this kind of music is not very high, I will do my best to help:

A 5th of Beethoven – based off of Beethoven’s 5th Symphony
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AxnoVn_Bvow&feature=related
Night on Disco Mountain – based off of Night on Bald Mountain by Mussorgsky
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ooGSEGg-o6I&feature=related
"I Can" by Nas – with themes of Fur Elise (this one’s especially bad)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQMfGm8H9Lc&feature=related
"Could This Be Majic" by Barry Manilow – based off of the Chopin Prelude Op. 28 No. 20 in C minor.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PShUNokSySM&feature=related
"Gimme Some More" by Busta Rhymes – sampled Bernard Hermann’s theme from the movie "Psycho"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P2asIbbS9aQ
Bouree by Jethro Tull – based off of Bouree in e minor by J.S. Bach.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W37×7lNP4DY
William Orbit did a version of Barber’s Adagio for Strings
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UMtmomHeXvA
He also did versions of Ravel’s Pavane Pour Une Infante Defune, Beethoven Op. 132, Handel’s Xerxes (all of them are bad)
There are MANY techno versions of Fur Elise (all of them are terribly cheesy)

There’s also 1 or more techno version of the Flower Duet from the opera Lakme.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uOAZMwMOsfs

There are many more I’m sure…but this is what I could come up with. I hope you will try listening to real classical versions of these….they are much much better and true works of art vs. a cheap rip-off (no offense).

What is your favorite TANGERINE DREAM album?

Saturday, October 24th, 2009

Mine is their first album "Electronic Meditation (1970)."
http://www.amazon.com/Electronic-Meditation-Tangerine-Dream/dp/B00004C4L6
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_Meditation

This line-up says it all:
Edgar Froese – six- and twelve-string guitar, organ, piano, sound effects, tapes
Conrad Schnitzler – cello, violin, typewriter
Klaus Schulze – drums, percussion, metal sticks

I too prefer ‘Electronic Meditation’ over all. That early lineup with Edgar Froese, Klaus Schulze, and Conrad Schnitzler was cutting edge with regards to experimental Krautrock during the late 60’s/early 70’s. Also, the fact that two of my favorite experimental pioneers played together on this album makes it that much more enjoyable…Edgar Froese and Klaus Schulze. I’m also a huge Karlheinz Stockhausen fan, and his influence on this album is quite evident throughout.
Much different from Tangerine Dream’s more ‘electronic/synth’ based albums released after 1973’s ‘Atem’. Those were all great albums too…but something still draws me to those fuzzed out guitars, cello’s, flutes, organ, tape loops, and old school studio trickery, that the bands later material failed to offer. Even their second offering ‘Alpha Centauri’ fell short of the debut in my opinion.

Oh… I’ve compiled a ‘Krautrock’ playlist over at ‘imeem’ that now boasts over 100 great Krautrock bands/artists from the 70’s. I’ll be continuously adding to it over the next few weeks…so let me know if you’re interested. I’ll give you the link if you are. I’m quite sure it would keep you busy for a while, as there are plenty of bands that would interest you.

Performance song suggestion?

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

Here’s the story: My boyfriend has played the violin since he was 6 (we’re both in our early 20’s) but he’s never played for me. I sing, and have taken lessons at my university, but have never sang for him. We finally made a deal… I’ll sing for him, and he’ll play for me.

Now I have to choose a song to sing. I’m a soprano with a decent range. I would like to find something in a genre that he likes (and something that would sound okay w/out accompaniment). He’s not really into today’s top 40… but he loves oldies, 80’s, electronic / indie, and some classical. It doesn’t have to be a love song, necessarily, just a nice song that he might like, that will also show of my voice (hopefully).

Any suggestions?

Also, do you know how I could get sheet music or a recording of the song? (I’m a broke college student, so I can’t really afford to go buy sheet music or an accompaniment track).

Thanks for the help!
