Are you asking the best BRAND of soundpost? Or the best size? Wood?

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

I’m looking to buy and I want to know what brand is the best to buy, as in the highest quality. Or, what’s the best style of violin to buy?
Also, what is the lowest one should buy for one?

A Stradivarius. They are Profoundly expensive, but worth every penny! You may pay over a million, but anything else is not the best.

How do you test your child to se whether he/she would be able to learn the violin? Is hearing tests sufficient?

The cornerstone of Suzuki method is this notion that "every child can." If you find a good teacher, any child can learn the violin, even deaf ones, ones with learning disabilities, and any other difficulty. What it takes is an effective "Suzuki triangle" – good teacher, supportive parent, and student.

Relationship between violins and bass guitars?

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

I’m a beginner violinist, and know nothing of guitars or basses. I was out shopping for an electronic tuner that was compatible with my violin, and was told that a cheap Korg guitar/bass tuner would work, because "a violin is just an upside down bass". I know the strings on each have the same names, but aren’t they in different octaves? Does this matter?

The tuning the most used on a bass guitar is E1 A1 D2 G2.
The tuning of a violin is G3 D4 A4 E5.
I know there are electronic tuners which have a specific violin setting.
Otherwise, you can also use an online tuner like http://www.tictone.com which allows to tune a violin.

Use the Suzuki Method! It’s the best way to learn efficiently from a young age. My teacher has taken students as early as 2 years old.

how to repair my violin myself?

Sunday, September 27th, 2009

the neck is falling off and the sound post fell two. but i am not worried about the sound post i can fix it myself. i just doun’t know what to do with the neck. it is vary old and wourth a lot.

DON’T try to fix it yourself.
The sound post is a key component of the violin, without it there would be no sound or it won’t sound like it used to if you attempt to fix it yourself.
I believe that for the neck of the violin they use a special glue to fix it.
I recommend you to take it to a luthier to fix it instead of doing it yourself, you may make it worse than it already is.

Can’t remember a Song by Trent Reznor?

Sunday, September 27th, 2009

There’s a song by Trent Reznor, an instrumental. It’s mainly a violin with electronic sounds and a few others mixed in with it. Things ticking like a clock or something you might hear from machines.

ummm….an instrumental song by Trent Reznor doesn’t really narrow the choices down.
